about

We started writing this song in May with our friend Will from Theory in Context, intending to release it on our next EP or a full-length. However, with the lineup about to change so drastically and a hiatus about to begin, there's a certain level of irony with the title and some of the lyrical content, but regardless, we still wanted to share this track with you guys.

Much love,
OMDUH

lyrics

I never thought that everything would be like this when I got older but we've grown apart and it's killing me. I just waste the days away. I couldn't be the man I am if not for you. You taught me to persevere but for all that I've accomplished, I still waste the days away. I'll just waste away.
I guess I'll make

Another retreat to my bedroom, you know I'd rather be asleep
So I can dream of Colorado, and how it's everything to me
You'd take the roof down from your T-Top, and you'd say it's time to go,
Crank the knob on the cassette deck, and play me all the songs you know.
The only place that feels like home.

And I'll try to function although 9 times out of 10 all my efforts lead to failure, I'll never let this story end, I'm hanging on this one last chance she gave me, I'm smiling because I'll never buy it when she tells me cut and dry: it's not what it was.

Another retreat to my bedroom you know I'd rather be asleep,
So I can dream of Pennsylvania and how it's everything to me.
I'd skip all of my morning classes and we'd never have to go
Let the needle spin my records, and play you all the songs I know.
The only place that feels like home.

It's not what it was

I never thought that everything would be like this when I got older but then you told me that the man I am is here to stay, and that's okay.

I think it's time to leave my bedroom, I'd rather live than be asleep
‘Cause I could dream of where I came from, but I know that's not where I'll be,
If I've become the man you're proud of, then maybe where I am is home,

It's not what it was, it's not what it was, it's not what it was, it's not what it was.
